SANTUR

The santur is a trapezium-shaped dulcimer with metal strings arranged in parallel and supported by tiny bridges. The instrument is played with delicate hammers whose heads are covered with felt.

The santur has a glittering sound and inThe Phoenix of Persia it represents the Mountain of Gems.

Like the santur, the piano also has stretched strings struck by felt-covered hammers. You don't often see the piano strings and hammers because they are inside the piano box!
